ICSE class 10 chapter 9 household circuits.
Short note on the transmission of electricity from power generating station to the consumers.
At power station, the electricity is generated at 11KV. From here, the alternating voltage is transmitted to the grid-substation and stepped up to 132 KV using a step up transformer. It is then transmitted to the main substation where the voltage is step down to 33 KV using step down transformer and is transmitted to intermediate substation.
At, the intermediate substation the voltage is step down to 11KV using step down transformer and is transmitted to the city substation where the voltage is for the step down to 220 volt and is supplied to our homes.
